Subaru and the Sumo Car Wash

This ad for the Subaru Forester features the fabled ‘Sumo Car Wash’ of ancient Japanese lore. According to Japanese Shinto faith, when the 8 million spirits that inhabit the lands of the living and the dead are in complete balance, the car wash is brought down from Mount Fuji on a giant cloud dragon. And then they wash your car for 5500 Yen, or about fifty American dollars.
You may remember this ad for another fat man car wash,, featuring a disturbing spoof of the Paris Hilton hamburger ad. To compare and contrast the similarities, this new ad for Subaru features a bunch of Sumo wrestlers. The old ad did not. If you didn’t notice this at first don’t worry, that’s what I get paid to do*.
