Hands off my Milwaukee

What follows is a long and strange advertising story.

The video in question is over ten minutes long, and begins as an apparent tongue-in-cheek promotion for Milwaukee. Quickly the video becomes too ridiculous to have any connection with a tourism-related body. Though the rack-zooms, archaic synthesizer music, and ham-fisted references to Voltaire endeared the production to my heart, I really didn’t want to follow up a commercial parody post with a second one. And I certainly was in no mood to learn how to spell ‘Milwaukee’.

The video keeps mutating, and it’s soon apparent it’s a viral video of the best kind. The kind that doesn’t tell you want it’s an advertisement for. It’s mysterious and engrossing, like the first Cloverfield teasers, but glib and wry, in the style of Valve’s Portal, the first-person video game tale of a computer-entity gone mad. And also a tale of portals.

(Oh there is more…)

Master the Internet

This will change your life

Funnyordie.com has uncovered a commercial for a video seminar on mastering the interneticals from the thick of 1994. Man I sure did look stupid back then. Nothing like how awesome I look right now (adjusting my Rastafarian hat).

This is one of the best parodies I’ve seen in a while, some of the small details are so good you could easily be fooled into thinking it’s the real deal until it gets to the more ridiculous sections. For instance, the fake tape-transfer titles in the beginning are totally off the hook.

If I could give higher than an A+ I would, but then we would lose our academic credentials.

Wonder Bra Cadbury Gorilla Parody

You will now associate women with gorillas

This ad is a parody of the Cadbury gorilla / Phil Collins video, but instead of a gorilla drumming to the song, it’s a woman in a Wonder Bra.

As a parody it seems kind of lacking, but we will let the readers reserve judgment until they have watched the video several times.

Power Thirst II

400 babies?

The kind gents at College Humor bring us this new ad for Power Thirst. It’s much like Power Thirst part one, except this time, it’s part two.

Bear blasting is something you’ll make up after you drink this drink because you’ll be too energetic for normal sports. It will make you win at running, football, weddings, and art.

This is the funniest parody of a commercial so far made, attempt no further parodies under severe penalty of rocket can.

Alicia Silverstone PETA Ad Spoof (NSFW)

BYOB

For some reason, naked people = not eating meat. That’s a trend reinforced by this recent NSFW ad featuring Alicia Silverstone. The parody is, like most parodies, just a shot for shot remake, but with the opposite message of the original ad (eat meat instead of don’t eat meat).

The site mentioned at the end, gomeat.com, takes you to the YouTube channel for a comedy group called Shake State. Apparently they don’t like Harry Potter. Or own a boom mike. Let’s watch!
