Every click is a double click

I live in a test market for the switch to digital television, so our elderly are hip-deep in the transition process depicted in this video.

I don’t consider this making fun of the elderly since it’s exactly what I imagined the first time I saw a DTV-switch PSA on television. Older people seem the most likely candidates for people still using an antenna to watch TV, and the most likely to by utterly flummoxed by an attempt to switch over to digital.

Less hilarious-minded PSAs encouraging more tech savvy people to look after the elderly during this transition period would actually be a good idea. Most people who see the real DTV PSAs think ‘I’m ok I’m on cable’ and not ‘oh no, old people!’ then imagine their grandmother putting her remote control in the microwave.
