Still Another Geico Caveman Pilot Update

ABC now has official footage from the caveman show online, view at your own peril. What struck me as a major mistake was the sloppy attitude the show seems to take towards the makeup on the cavemen. I swear there was more makeup on the Klingons in the original James T. Kirk Star Trek series, and I’ve never said anything that mean before.
I guess this is a natural course of events: A bad TV show is based on a good commercial campaign which is based on a hypothetical bad commercial. Time will only tell whether or not the pilot even makes it on the air.

I heard that it had been approved for its first season.
What I want to see is a deathmatch between the cavemen from the commercials and the cavemen from the show.

It has been approved and I am looking forward to it. Here’s what could ruin it: It gets preachey and sentimental and starts trying to teach somebody’s idea tolerance to the audience.
Oh, teaching tolerance is good — but that is *NOT* why I would stay tuned in to a sitcom.

Horrible. Take a prospective thing, and turn it ugly. bad makeup, bad acting. Ill stay with the commercials, and the actors that made it.

Holy Crap, these guys suck. The original cavemen rock. This is a really big mistake. Theres is real potential for a sitcom here………But you have to use the original guys. If ABC runs a pilot without the original cavemen….. , no wonder they are the worst network out there.

Caling the Geico Caveman commercials “awful” is beyond comprehension!!! Witty, clever, intelligent and original-something sorely lacking in the advertising world!!! Actually, I wish that the advertising world would fall into a black hole…

E-I-C, did you see the new promo on speed for the cavemanscrib.com? It’s the first new spot I’ve seen on the Cavemen, but it ‘looks’ like they’ve cheapened the makeup for the guys.

Getting a bit obsessive, I know, but the caveman’s crib has a new topic ‘Snooze and Rejuve’ and sure enough, the guy with the apartment is being played by a different actor.
And the makeup is not the same quality.

Not just the makeup, but in the clip I saw they focus way too much on the metaphor of caveman-as-minority…I got flop sweat just watching it!

E-i-C, there was actually a bit of an E! Online type of Caveman interview/promo I caught on ABC last night, and as we feared, the four cavemen — I couldn’t even tell if one was the actor from the commercial — were in makeup that would make King Kong weep.
The makeup looked to be Be A Caveman! paste on faces that were probably snapped up on a blue light special at Walmart (I know, I’m mixing up my bargain basement stores but you get the picture), and there they were, four grown men trying to be funny in cheap Halloween costumes shilling for the even more pathetic ABC. Sad.
Brrrrrrrrr. It gives me the chills just replaying the promo in my head.

The new section of www.cavemanscrib.com is called “Snooze and Rejuve” and brings in a bunch of characters, including a new, younger caveman.
The host of the original site is the same as the new site and the caveman from the therapy spot can be seen in the crib. I think their makeup is a bit different this time, but I think it’s because their trying to improve it. I can’t imagine the issues those guys go through with wearing that stuff all day.
The TV show is another issue all together…
