Another Geico Caveman ad is out, and I promised this comment thread I would go without food sleep or water until I had posted every available caveman ad.
While this is “Awful Commercials”, once in a while it’s good to take a look at something I consider the opposite of awful to establish some kind of bearing, and to say, no I don’t hate every single television advertisement ever made.
This ad features one of the Geico cavemen talking to his therapist about the fictitious “So Easy a Caveman Can do It” Geico.com campaign.
In some respect, this ad seems to be geared towards existing fans of the ads. It supposes the viewer has seen enough of the previous ads to not go “huh? what the hell is going on”. Geico runs so many varied ads I think this is not an issue, someone who doesn’t know what is going on has a lot more other ads being flung their way to make up for it. And since when has anything made sense on television? Not since I blew out my eardrum at the firing range, I can tell you that much.
My biggest concern, being a fan of the caveman ads, is that they would eventually damage the integrity of the humor and characters, in the classic style of such greats as George Lucas and the director of Godfather Part IV: Blood Rain. This ad stays the course like a lone superpower in a troubled land full of oil resources, and delivers some great subtleties of acting and character that made the beloved restaurant ad famous. The speechless reaction of the therapist to the caveman’s sniping comment, along with the phone call from his mom he puts on speaker phone drops the audience into a rich three-dimensional setting of human interaction in just thirty seconds.
Great work guys!

The CAVEMAN commercials are HILARIOUS!!! Whoever this guy is, he (and the composer/writers)deserve to make a million bucks each on the upcoming ….MOVIE!
HUMOR & IRONY are two things this homeboy knows how to portray.

I love these commercials.. the “I’ll take the duck with the mango salsa” is still my favorite line. And the airport one featuring the Royksopp song is my second favorite.
Has anyone noticed that they changed the therapist one.. originally he says something like “let me check my Blackberry..my mother is calling” but they changed it. I’m 99% they did.. anyone else remember if he originallly plugs Blackberry? Email me if so:

I just love the Caveman commercial! I think it’s great! He is so funny! Whom ever picked this guy that plays this character is a good judge! He truly fits the part, again I really like it! Keep it coming!!

I love this commercial, when he says My mother’s calling, I’ll out her on Speaker..
I just fell off my sofa laughing. Who ever writes those lines in these commercials is definately in a new solar system of creativity. Everything about these commercials is so unpredictable.
The new one where they are at a party and a third caveman enters the scene…….is cool. Now we have another caveman….and he evidently has a girlfriend. Love it.

I agree these commercials are simply the best. There’s a spot somewhere on line thats a promo for a Caveman movie, it’s fake of course.
I would simply love to see these guys made into a real movie perhaps with the underlying theme being this caveman’s quest to have Geico take the caveman commercial’s off.

Check out caveman’s crib. You can play around in the caveman’s apartment.

Here’s the link to the caveman’s crib. Move around, click on things, go into different rooms. Play answering machine messages. Be sure to flush the toilet.

That apartment is sooooooooo cool!! If you go into the kitchen and the bedroom different times, he will come out and say different stuff. I’m more in love now since getting to know him better. I wish that girl would leave him alone, though…

From the original post: “My biggest concern, being a fan of the caveman ads, is that they would eventually damage the integrity of the humor and characters, in the classic style of such greats as George Lucas and the director of Godfather Part IV: Blood Rain.”
I think they just did. I just saw a new one this morning where there are a couple cavemen on a balcony with a party inside. It appears to me to have either no punchline, or to be as bad as the first ones were good, ala Ghostbusters 2.
So sad. If anyone reading this has control over these ads, pull this one now. Stop the bleeding before you kill the caveman ads. GO back to the drawing board and don’t release an ad until you have hit the sweet spot you had with the first set. Don’t worry, we’ll wait. The only way you can f()ck up is to release some crap like this.

This Just In: The Gieco Caveman has just announced that HE (although regrettably) is the true and actual father of Anna Nicole Smiths baby”. He also stated that “it all stems from a hard case of late night beer goggles…albeit he will step up to the plate and take full responsibility…and see to it that the baby is raised with the utmost love, respect and sound guidance”. When asked how he “pulled IT off”…he replied…”it was just…so easy”. …More on this tonight at 11:00. CC.
